Use of Facebook social plugins
On the homepage of the provider are social plugins (“plugins”) of the social network facebook.com, which is operated by Facebook Ireland Ltd., 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbor, Dublin 2, Ireland (“Facebook”). The plugins can be recognized by one of the typical Facebook logos (white “f” on blue tile, the terms “Like”, “Like” or a “thumbs up” sign). Alternatively, they are marked with the addition “Facebook Social Plugin”. An overview of the Facebook social plugins is here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/.

When a user invokes a page of this offer with such a plugin, a direct connection to the Facebook servers is established with his browser. The content of the plugin is transmitted from Facebook directly to the user’s browser and integrated into the homepage. Due to this, the provider has no influence on the amount of data Facebook collects with the help of this plugin.

In view of the plugin integration, Facebook is informed that a user has accessed the corresponding page of the offer. As long as the user is logged in to Facebook, Facebook knows and Facebook can assign the visit to his Facebook account. If users interact with the plugins, for example by pressing the Like button or by leaving a comment, the respective information is transmitted from their browser directly to Facebook and stored there. In cases where a user is not a member of Facebook, there is still the possibility that Facebook will find out and save its IP address. According to Facebook, only an anonymous IP address is stored in Germany.
